The overflow, or elbow, is an essential element of the flexible tank. It is present on all our tanks, whatever the volume and whatever the liquid stored. It is essential to ensure long service life and optimum operation.
The importance of overflow on our flexible tanks, in 4 points:
1. Angled shape
The overflow, systematically installed on our flexible tanks, is angled to facilitate the evacuation of water in the event of overfilling, and of any air that may be trapped in the tank. We calculate its position according to the volume and dimensions of the tank, to ensure that this overflow occurs at the maximum filling level.
2. Positioning
During installation, it is very important to position the overflow as specified in our recommendations. If the overflow is inverted with other equipment, it will not fulfil its warning function in the event of the tank being overfilled beyond its initial storage capacity and resistance.
When the overflow is not central, its outlet must be turned towards the edge of the tank, not the center, so that water flows to the ground in the event of an overflow.
3. Its use
The overflow must not be obstructed in order to fulfil its function. It must not be used for filling. The tank must be filled via the side tapping, which is designed for both emptying and filling.
If the tank is filled via the overflow, there is also a risk of the tank swelling beyond its initial volume.
4. Our plus
On our flexible cisterns, the overflow can be fitted with an anti-contamination valve to prevent parasites from infiltrating the cistern and contaminating the liquid: leaves, insects, sand, dust, etc. Think about it when planning your project!
