Rainwater harvesting – 60 m3 - France
On his 150-hectare organic cereal farm in Isère, our customer has installed a 60 m3 rainwater recovery tank. Most of the recovered water is used to clean farm machinery, and to irrigate the family vegetable garden.
The cistern is connected to the main 180 m2 roof. With such a large roof surface area, the potential for rainwater harvesting is considerable, resulting in considerable annual savings.
The rainwater harvesting system is as follows:
• 2 roof connections, providing 2 filling sources on the cistern (50 cm diameter valves).
• 2 collectors, 1 on each roof downspout, installed at the maximum height of the cistern (in this case, 160cm from the ground), to regulate the volume of water entering through the overflow and prevent overfilling.
This type of installation, which is easy to install, represents considerable annual savings for this farmer. From an ecological point of view, rainwater harvesting avoids the use of drinking water when it’s not needed.
A smart investment, both economically and ecologically.
