Maintenance obligations depend on the stored liquid and the associated regulations. As such, the tank does not require any special maintenance.
Maintenance obligations depend on the stored liquid and the associated regulations. As such, the tank does not require any special maintenance. As with any installation, a periodic inspection can be carried out to check the good condition of the tank, the proper functioning of the ancillary equipment and, above all, its accessibility.
In case of heavy snow, it is recommended to clear the snow from your tank to prevent its weight from triggering the overflow. Be careful to use a non-blunt tool to avoid damaging the tank during the snow removal operation.

The installation of our flexible tanks requires a perfectly flat and horizontal surface with the empty dimensions of the tank + 2.00 m in length and width.
The platform must be targeted at the level. It must be clean and stable, without perforating elements. It must be able to support the weight of the full tank without collapsing (~ 2.1 tonnes per m2) or eroding.
A compacted gravel bed is recommended to ensure a stable platform (thickness to be defined by the Public Works company to ensure the required bearing capacity). A top coat of rolled sand (type 0/4) ~ 10 cm thick is then required to avoid punching.
It is recommended to drain the platform if it is built on impermeable ground. The installation of a geotextile ("bidim" type) between the structuring materials and the rolled sand is strongly recommended. This geotextile can be added to your order by us.
Any above-ground connection to a flexible tank must be made using a flexible pipe.
Ideally, it is recommended to fence off the area where the tank is installed to limit access to authorized persons.
Some installations may be compatible with financial assistance. It is therefore advisable to check with the authorities before starting your work.
You have the possibility to install your flexible tank in the crawl space or under the terrace of your house. Depending on the space available, our sales department can offer you the most suitable tank. Our tanks are delivered folded and rolled and are therefore accessible through a possible access hatch to the crawl space.
The installation of our flexible tanks requires a perfectly flat and horizontal platform, a clean (without perforating elements) and stable floor, with the dimensions of the vacuum tank. This platform must be able to support the weight of the full tank without collapsing or eroding. In case of unevenness of the ground, it is recommended to use a geotextile to avoid premature wear.
Once the surface is ready, you can deploy your tank before connecting it to your water supply (gutter collector, network connection or other). Find all the steps for installing your tank in the installation manual provided for this purpose and delivered with your tank.
Our gutter collector is designed for a roof of approximately 80m2. To define the exact location of the collector, you must match the overflow of this device with the top level of the tank to avoid any risk of overpressure. The installation instructions supplied with your tank will allow you to connect the gutter collector correctly.
A rodent staircase, a board, or a plastic trellis... can be placed on the walls of a retention to allow a rodent that has fallen into it to exit. This will prevent it from nibbling at the installation to hopefully come out.
Follow our installation instructions: Our specific retention sheet will already allow you to find out about the conditions related to installation.
Discharge trucks push the liquid fertilizer into the tank with air. It is possible to observe a decrease in the height of the tank the next day and the days following the filling, the time until the degassing is complete and also the time for the technical fabric to relax and find its seat.

Our flexible tanks are all manufactured in France in our factory and head office located in Pont-Evêque, Isère. André Labaronne, our founder and inventor of the flexible tank, founded CITAF in the 1950s. At that time, it was a question of offering convenient solutions to store rainwater away from evaporation and pollution. To learn more about our company, we invite you to consult the section " Who are we? ".
Manufactured exclusively in France, our products are then distributed worldwide thanks to a network of qualified and efficient distributors. Q.B. certification, Building Quality - is a guarantee of quality and durability. It is issued by the C.S.T.B. - "Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment" - which validates the product and its manufacturing process detailed in a complete technical file, in order to ensure that it corresponds to the use for which it is intended. It also ensures that everything is done at the certificate holder's premises to comply with the technical advice validated at several levels by the CSTB laboratories, a group of competent professionals and the CSTB's engineers and technicians.
Our flexible tanks are 100% recyclable and reintegrate technical fabric treatment processes.
Your questions about storage or equipment for flexible tank
The following FAQ lists practical information concerning storage conditions or the technical characteristics of Labaronne-Citaf's flexible tank equipment.
The thickness of a technical fabric depends on its coating. Its thickness is generally between 0.7 and 1.2 mm. Consisting of a weave that ensures its reinforcement, the thickness of a technical fabric does not really matter. Other parameters to consider include its breaking strength and elongation at break.
The choice of our fabrics is made both by our experience and by the technical characteristics of the liquids likely to come into contact with the coating. This is why we have an extensive range of technical fabrics to meet the specificities and storage conditions that may be required of us. For example, we store manure in flexible tanks whose technical fabric is different from that used for water storage.
The valve support avoids the mechanical stresses on the technical fabric that could be induced by the weight of an equipment (valve + pipe...).
The overflow is a safety hole positioned on top of the tank. When your tank is full, the excess water drains out through the overflow. Be careful, as soon as liquid flows from the overflow, it is imperative to stop filling the tank.
If your flexible tank is installed in a crawl space, it is possible to connect the overflow to an outlet. In France, departmental health regulations, the nomenclature of classified installations or other local regulations may make retention mandatory regardless of the volume of liquid fertilizer stored. Usually, it is advisable to find out about local regulations. It is strongly recommended to use a retention device to recover the fertilizer in the event of an incident and to avoid contamination of the natural environment.
In France, local regulations as the Health Regulations ("R.S.") of the departments or the Nomenclature of Classified Installations ("I.C.P.E."), may govern the storage procedures for potentially polluting products. Generally, it is advisable to find out about local regulations.

D.E.C.I. Labaronne-Citaf tanks are designed to meet the requirements of firefighters. Our fire tanks are subject to numerous points of vigilance in accordance with the QB certification and the NF standard to which we are attached. All the equipment used is standardized and perfectly meets the connection requirements of firefighters. In the event of a fire, firefighters can therefore quickly connect to our fire reserves.
It varies according to the volume of the tank and the materials chosen to make it. Our sales department will advise you on the best solution according to the nature of your project.
The technical fabrics used for our flexible tanks incorporate an anti-UV treatment in their formulation. We have experience feedback on tanks installed in the desert or exposed at high altitudes to high UV radiation and which are still in use after decades of exposure. We have other tanks in France that have been in operation for more than 20 years!
The liquid stored in a flexible tank is in contact with all the walls of the tank. The fabrics used are completely opaque, so there is no photosynthesis or development of filamentous algae. It is possible that a biofilm may be created on the tank walls (as on pool liners) but this will not prevent the tank from being used.
